(PORK PRESS) — Demonstrations were held in numerous cities world-wide to demand the release of Miss Piggy, whom protesters say is being held in Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp.

Miss Piggy was arrested last month in New Mexico. White House officials have stated that she is a “pig of interest” in the recent death of Kermit the Frog. Although no formal charges have been laid, a video tape released shortly thereafter has been confirmed by experts to depict Osama bin Laden claiming responsibility for the death of the celebrity frog. This has lead to speculations that Miss Piggy is being held for suspected associations with Al Qaeda.
“They [the United States government] can call anyone a terrorist, and suddenly there go their rights,” said a demonstrator in London, England, who would not identify himself. He carried a placard which read “Give the Pig the Sixth.”
“The sixth amendment [to the U.S. Constitution] guarantees the right to a speedy trial. Where is the the trial?” he said.
Worldwide pressure to release Miss Piggy has extended to the social networking site, Facebook. Already a group named “Give Miss Piggy Her Sixth Amendment Rights” has garnered nearly two members. The site claims that “a legal loophole that attempts to deny constitutional rights to pigs needs to be filled.”
In Prince George, British Columbia, protesters at Fort George Park chanted “Bring home the bacon,” and threw footballs into the air. The demonstration was peaceful for the most part, except for an incident where one of the demonstrators attempted to set fire to the Nechako River. He was immediately arrested by RCMP.
