One quick way to improve your running form

Barefoot on gravel

Barefoot on gravel

I started out my run this morning on a short patch of gravel. The idea is that it immediately cures you of 2 running sins.
1. Heel plants (hard on the knees)
2. Sole shuffles (hard on the feet)

And yes, you do it barefoot. Even if you run shod otherwise.

I said “quick.” I didn’t say “easy.’

  1. Looks like sand blasted concrete?
I remember my dad telling stories of his youth where he ran bare foot except the colder days of the year. Approximately 100 years ago this was the normal. Not much concrete and black top back in those days?

How old did you say you are?
Guess we have traded in black feet back then for just red feet today?
So is the past ahead of us or behind us? ;)

  2. How short a patch of gravel? How many k do you run? And why don’t you just concentrate on placing your feet properly while wearing shoes?
